Solemnities
A solemnity in the Roman liturgical calendar of the Catholic Church is a liturgical celebration of great importance. It is the celebration with the highest degree of importance in the Catholic liturgical calendar, superior to a feast and a memorial.
- Mary, Mother of God, January 1.
- Epiphany, January 6 or Sunday between January 2 and 8.
- Saint Joseph, husband of the Virgin Mary, March 19.
- Annunciation of Jesus, March 25.
- Easter, considered the solemnity of solemnities.
- Ascension of Jesus, a Thursday forty days after Easter Sunday or the following Sunday.
- Pentecost, seven weeks after Easter Sunday.
- Holy Trinity, the first Sunday after Pentecost.
- Corpus Christi or Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ, Thursday or Sunday following Holy Trinity Sunday.
- Sacred Heart of Jesus, celebrated on a Friday, 19 days after Pentecost Sunday.
